Two DHL accounts are required for registration: a MyDHL Developer Account and a DHL Express Account.

If you are already using our pre-system V-LOG, you do not need to create new accounts because V-LOG and ShipTrack use the same API endpoint.

Instructions for registering for the MyDHL Express Tracking API

With this step-by-step guide, you can register with DHL Express on your own and get your access to the tracking API.

Step 1: Request access to the DHL Developer Portal

Open the page: https://developer.dhl.com/api-reference/dhl-express-mydhl-api
Click on "Get access" in the top right.
Register with your company data if you do not already have access.

Step 2: Apply for a DHL Express account

If you do not yet have a DHL Express account, go to: https://mydhl.express.dhl/gb/en/ship/open-account.html#/fs-step=connectors
Select "Open an Account", fill out the form and submit your company details.
After successful activation, you will receive your DHL Express customer number by e-mail.

Schritt 3: Onboarding im DHL Developer Portal

Log in to the Developer Portal again and open the form: https://developer.dhl.com/form/dhl-express-onboarding
Enter your DHL Express customer number and other required company information.
Answer the question "How would you like to use the API?" with the second option and specify e.g.: "ecovium GmbH - ShipTrack".
In the Requested Services section, select the Tracking check box.
Provide a brief description of the purpose of payment (for example: "Automated shipment tracking").
Enter the estimated monthly shipment volume.
Accept the terms and submit the form.

Additional information

The manual setup of an "app" is not necessary for DHL Express. This step is done automatically once you have set up the MyDHL API. You can then find your app in the user dashboard, in the upper right corner, under the menu item Apps. There you will also find the current status of your activation.
